An automatic fire alarm system, comprising a set of electric/electronic devices/equipment working together is designed to detect the unwanted presence of fire by monitoring environmental changes associated with combustion and to alert people through visual and audio appliances when smoke or fire is present.
The categories of fire alarm systems are:
- L if they are designed to protect life
- P to protect buildings and
- M if they are purely manual systems.
These categories are critical when designing a fire detection system
